Counselling, Individual therapy, couples therapy, consultation, psychotherapy in Double Bay
The following services are offered by appointment only:

Appointments

An initial appointment can be made by ringing the practice phone on 0430 656 404. The phone is checked Mon-Fri 8:30 AM- 5:30 PM. If you get the message bank, please leave your contact details so that we may get back to you promptly.

The initial appointment is generally 75 minutes. During that session, your Clinical Psychologist will speak with you about why you have sought consultation, and will try to get a sense of who you are and your hopes for assistance. This is so we can best understand you and your presenting concerns so that the most appropriate assistance/treatment can be provided. As with anything new and personal, it is natural to feel some anxiety about seeking therapy for the first time. At the end of the session, you will be given some feedback about your situation and any recommendations. If further sessions are recommended and you are comfortable, follow-up sessions will be booked.

Subsequent appointments are generally 50-55 minutes long. The benefits of psychotherapy are usually more apparent when appointments are kept regularly. As we are a "boutique" practice, it is appreciated that if you need to cancel an appointment you give adequate notice (48 hours or more). Missed or late canceled appointments will usually incur the full session fee, unless in case of emergency or significant illness.

Confidentiality

Your attendance at appointments and the information shared during them are considered confidential and protected by law. There are, however, some limits to confidentiality, such as in cases of duty of care due to potential harm or significant legal matters or subpoena. These will be discussed with you at your first appointment.

Emergencies

Please note that the practice is not an emergency or drop-in service. If you are feeling suicidal, unsafe or requiring immediate psychological care, please call 000, go to your nearest Emergency Department, call your local Mental Health Acute Care Team (1 800 011 511) or contact an emergency helpline such as Lifeline 13 11 14
